Awaken Your Passion: February Events

This February our Alive in All Seasons’ theme is Art: “Awaken Your Passion”. In a moving quote from HonorĂ© de Balzac we are reminded that art and passion are inextricably linked; he states, “passion is universal humanity; without it, religion, history, romance and art would be useless.” Art is truly a conduit that allows us to experience the richness and brilliance of all that life has to offer. Art can have a profound effect upon us by providing nourishment to our spirit and soul.

As you know there is always something special going on here at Juniper Village at Chatham and this February we will celebrate another wonderful month filled with memories, laughter and the opportunity to create! This month we will open ourselves to various forms of art. We will be taking field trips to local museums, learning about the Great Masters, and creating masterpieces of our own using various mediums.

Please join us for our The Women Behind the Men historical presentation on former first ladies from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on February 11th, our Millburn High School Art Exhibit from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm on February 11th, and our Some Like It Hot Marilyn Monroe Impersonation at 7:00 pm on February 14th. We encourage you to review our newsletter calendar for other offerings and attend any or all of the activities that are of interest to you.

Come get together with us for our Alive in All Seasons programs this February and Awaken Your Passion!

The Most Wonderful Concert of All

Today at Juniper Village we were all treated to the joyful choir of
the 1st graders at St. Vincent School. Although it was only 4 degrees
outside, inside their fabulous voices warmed the hearts of our residents.
All 44 first graders came prepared. After they sang, the children went
around and read to our residents. They also passed out valentine's notes
and worked on puzzles. It made a bitter day warm and bright!

Homespun Gifting

Who doesn't love a homemade gift for the holidays? Our residents had
a great time putting together Rainbow Bean Soup kits, which were not
only colorful, but will surely warm their loved-ones hearts and
tummies this season.

Welcome New Beginnings: January Events

It is hard to believe how time has flown and we now, once again, welcome in a new year—2014! This January, as part of our Alive in All Seasons program we will be celebrating the magic of music. Music has long been recognized as a healing tool in the writings of Pythagoras, Aristotle and Plato. A quote by Plato helps us understand the enormity and power of music; “music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything”.

Music is indeed part of our souls, our imaginations, our lives. It is no wonder that people love music; it inspires us, sparks our minds, taps into our creativity, heals our souls, motivates us to dance, to laugh, to cry. This January we will celebrate music in all its glory!

We will be hosting several open events at our community this month. Please join us for a special performance by the N.J. Intergenerational Orchestra at 2:00 pm on January 11th, our Walter Choroszewski “Cinema & T.V. the NJ Connection” presentation at 2:00 pm on January 18th, our African American Musicians and Martin Luther King Day Celebration at 2:00 pm on January 21st, and our Chinese New Year Party at 5:00 pm on January 31st. We encourage you to review our calendar for other offerings and attend any or all of the activities that are of interest to you.

It’s going to be another great month here at Juniper Village at Chatham. Let us join together in music and “Welcome New Beginnings”.

Signs and Sounds of the Season

So much is happening this time of year that it is hard to select just
one venue to describe the many very wonderful events at Juniper
Village at Chatham. That's why we want to share a collage of many of
our great seasonal traditions, from decorating the tree to our
wonderful family resident holiday party, where we invite both Santa
and strolling minstrels to sing and bring cheer. Carolers come to
sing all of our favorites, not to mention our Staff Christmas party
where the music is really turned up. " Let's make a deal" was our new
twist to giving out great holiday gifts.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Holiday Bazaar at Juniper

Juniper Village was decorated and ready to go for the third annual
Holiday Bazaar. We had vendors selling everything from stained
glass, candy, and pocketbooks, to candles, shoes, jewelry and much
more. The turnout was huge. I heard a lot of residents say this was
one-stop shopping and their holiday lists were complete. Other shoppers
were just happy to have found goodies for themselves. All in all it, was
fun!

Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah!

Hanukkah has arrived very early this year. In fact, this will not happen
again where Hannukkah coincides with Thanksgiving for 7000 years. This
didn't stop our residents of all faiths from listening to the Story of
Hanukkah presented by Rabbi Newfield. Both the community and
residents heard the story of how the oil lasted 8 nights.
