Concert under the Stars

It felt more like Fall on July 25th, but that didn't stop the 150+ residents and community from enjoying "The Chatham Community Band",
on Juniper Village's front lawn. Both the young and old sang along with some of the more popular tunes. Cookies and lemonade were offered to all whom attended. It was truly a magical night, everyone went away smiling!

Trip to Cooper Gristmill

Although earlier in the week the heat was oppressive, we were grateful that the weather broke just in time for our trip to the Historic Cooper Gristmill. Rebuilt in 1826 by Nathan A. Cooper, it is the last water-powered gristmill actively producing flour in New Jersey. We
experienced how difficult it is to grind wheat seeds by hand, and learned about the different types of millstones and the countries of
origin for the better ones. The mill is powered by water from Mill Pond, which is part of the Black River, and it was a truly scenic area. We received samples of flour and corn meal (which we are
excited to use in our cooking class), and then had a delightful lunch at a pub that stands on the spot where one of the Rockefellers had built a general store. It was a fun day of history for all of us!

Juniper celebrates New Life

We celebrated today one of our very own, Magalie Innocent, who will be giving birth in August. We know she is having a girl and this will be their first child. All hands were on deck to wish her a fair adieu by giving her a surprise shower. Magalie, who is shy, enjoyed every minute.  Hopefully we'll see her back in November. Good Luck!

Horseshoes Anyone?

Let the Horseshoes fall as they will. The competition is fierce but Juniper residents came out to participate in an 8 week competitive
game of Horseshoes. The weather cooperated as residents warmed up with some arm exercises and then delved in. The first week has Jayne Capevillo taking the early lead, but time will tell.

Elisaveta "Wellness Director" is not only a Nurse!

Keeping with our theme of the Month, "Food, Live in Wellness", our very own director of Wellness, Elisaveta Zaharieva demonstrated how to make one of her favorite Russian salads. Residents were treated to an interesting history of how this became the traditional salad dish of
Russia. We also found out that Elisaveta is not only an excellent nurse.... but also a superb cook. Samples were accepted by all.

Dance Innovation Delights Residents

Once again, Dance Innovations delighted residents by performing their lastest repertoire of dance numbers. Families and the residents were
in awe of their talent. The girls aged from 6 to 15. They were impeccable in their beautiful attire with only artistic aptitude and beauty to match.

Thomas Jefferson visits Juniper Village

He was the Third President, but the Sage of Monticello would rather be remembered as scientist, farmer, inventor, architect, and author of the Declaration of Independence. Our  residents, along with the community, were treated to a performance by Peter Small impersonating Thomas Jefferson.
