Summer Farewell

As Summer comes to an end, Juniper residents, in record breaking numbers, make the final passage to the Shore. What a perfect day to

head down to Spring lake. The residents ate a delightful lunch at the imfamous "Breakers" while taking in the beautiful ocean views. A
stroll along the newly built boardwalk topped by their usual ice cream cones and it was back home till next year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grandparents Day Country Fair

Our Grandparents Day Country Fair was a huge success. We could not have ordered a more beautiful day. Both young and old shared with

families and friends, this celebration of life. We were treated to a fun packed day which included a petting zoo, pony rides, games, face painting, balloon making, ice cream, hot dogs , a huge mobile play center, music by Dicey Riley and to top it all off a special magic show for the kids.

Shred-it Day at Juniper

It turned out to be a perfect day to shred all your unwanted files. Juniper was geared up and ready to go. Residents, associates and the community were all lined up to not only get rid of papers, but to help the cause. All proceeds will be  donated to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. Thank you everyone for your assistance in this  wonderful mission.

 

 

 

 

Red Hats Enjoy Lunch

The Red Hats elected to have lunch out this month, and out we went.

We revisited one of their favorite luncheonette places, that is owned by a former employee of Juniper Village. We ate at Aida's a Lebonese/American style luncheonette. After everyone finished their Baklava dessert and moon cookies....the next question was: when can we go back?

Concert under the Stars

It felt more like Fall on July 25th, but that didn't stop the 150+ residents and community from enjoying "The Chatham Community Band",

on Juniper Village's front lawn. Both the young and old sang along with some of the more popular tunes. Cookies and lemonade were offered to all whom attended. It was truly a magical night, everyone went away smiling!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Trip to Cooper Gristmill

Although earlier in the week the heat was oppressive, we were grateful that the weather broke just in time for our trip to the Historic Cooper Gristmill. Rebuilt in 1826 by Nathan A. Cooper, it is the last water-powered gristmill actively producing flour in New Jersey. We

experienced how difficult it is to grind wheat seeds by hand, and learned about the different types of millstones and the countries of
origin for the better ones. The mill is powered by water from Mill Pond, which is part of the Black River, and it was a truly scenic area. We received samples of flour and corn meal (which we are
excited to use in our cooking class), and then had a delightful lunch at a pub that stands on the spot where one of the Rockefellers had built a general store. It was a fun day of history for all of us!

 

 

 

 

 

Juniper celebrates New Life

We celebrated today one of our very own, Magalie Innocent, who will be giving birth in August. We know she is having a girl and this will be their first child. All hands were on deck to wish her a fair adieu by giving her a surprise shower. Magalie, who is shy, enjoyed every minute.  Hopefully we'll see her back in November. Good Luck!
